Our History
'A foundation laid - a lighthouse built'
In July 2004 First Assembly of God in Hawaii, USA sent a team of six persons (Kenneth & Poh-cheng Powell, Jeff & Lei Chee, Gary & Linda Sasaki) to Ireland to plant a church that would impact Ireland with the hope and restoration that comes through message of Jesus Christ. The Church plant was a joint mission that came under the 'Love Ireland' project of Pastor Rick Seaward of Victory Family Church in Singapore and involved several other ministries. In the initial stages of the life of the Church it met in the team's home and held weekly Bible Studies and Prayer meetings, as well as other regular church activities.
In November 2004, by God’s grace, the Church grew and started having Sunday church services in the Claremont Stadium on Commons Road. It was around this period that the Church was named First Assembly of God, Navan (FAOG Navan). Also in October 2005, the Church moved to hold its Sunday Services in the Newgrange Hotel in the centre of Navan town.
In the spring of 2008 Pastor Jamie Corcoran from Co Carlow was inducted as the new pastor while the Powells ended their term in Ireland and returned to Hawaii. The Church took another leap foreword in January of 2009 as it continued to grow and changed it's name to: 'Lighthouse Community Church Navan'.
In August of 2009 Lighthouse opened its doors on the Kentstown road at its new facility. This is where we are based to current day.
Looking foreword we are exited for what God is doing in the hearts and lives of the Church, we want to reach people with the love and mercy of Jesus, in Navan, in Meath, in Ireland and across the the world!
